Emergency exercise benefited from community donations
On Jan. 27, the Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) conducted an emergency shelter exercise at The Maxx on Railroad Street in New Milford.
We would like to thank the businesses who donated toward this event:
Wal-Mart. Stop Shop, Peggy's Coffee Shop, Jojo's Deli, Subway on Park Lane, and Home Health Pavilion provided food and supplies for the shelter victims and staff.
We would also like to thank the agencies who assisted us:
Redding Community Emergency Response Team, Washington Community Emergency response team, New Milford Ambulance, Water Witch Hose Co. # 2, Noah's Wish, American Red Cross, Northville Amateur Radio Club, and Boy Scout Troop No. 258.
Members of New Milford CERT and agencies set up and managed the emergency shelter in preparation of displaced residents from a disaster.
The CERT team is activated by the emergency management director, chief of police, fire chiefs or the chief of EMS.
We appreciate the businesses and agencies that helped us in making the shelter a success.
