Elizabeth Canavan, 79, was a newsletter editor

Elizabeth Ann (Collins) Canavan, 79, of New Milford, died March 1, 2011, at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Milford. She was the wife of Franklin Charles Canavan.

Mrs. Canavan was born May 9, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Giddings) Collins.

She was a resident of New Milford since 1992, moving from New Hyde Park, N.Y.

Mrs. Canavan was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, a volunteer at the New Milford Public Library, and editor of the "Sullivan Farmer" newsletter.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, she is survived by a son, Brendan Canavan, and his wife, Maria, of Farmingdale, N.Y.; a daughter, Faith Marr, and her husband, Paul, of New Milford; and two grandchildren, Lindsey Marr and Lauren Marr, both of New Milford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, New Milford. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, New Milford.

Friends may call today (Friday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.
