Edward S. Pogonowski, 75, died at home Aug. 1, 2010, in the presence of his family, on his 50th wedding anniversary, in Venice, Fla.
He was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Bridgeport, son of the late Walter and Julia Pogonowski.
Mr. Pogonowski was a World War II veteran, serving on Fleet Airwing 7 in Dunkeswell, England, on a B-24 Liberator.
He also served as a aviation mechanic in the Gulf of Mexico on the USS Saipan aircraft carrier.
After his naval career, he worked for Winchester Electronics in New Milford, where he lived with his family.
Mr. Pogonowski is survived by his wife, Audrey; his children, John Pogonowski, of Tewksbury, Mass., Debbie Golembeski, of Venice, Fla., Edward Alan Pogonowski, of Danbury, and Robert and Gary Guendelsberger, of New Milford; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford. Funeral services will take place at the Lillis Funeral Home, on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 10 a.m. Private burial for family only will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury.
