Edith Stevens, 101, was a retired teacher
Edith B. Stevens, 101, widow of Francis H. Stevens, died Aug. 25, 2010, in New Milford.
Mrs. Stevens was born Nov. 29, 1908, in Manchester, where she attended schools. She was a graduate of Willimantic Normal School and Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.
In 1965, she retired from teaching at Grassy Plain School in Bethel.
After living in Danbury for more than 30 years, she and her husband retired to Westbrook, where she had lived for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Stevens is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Kathryn Stevens, of New Milford; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dennis Zucca, of New Milford; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Stevens, Elizabeth Stevens, Jill Emmons, Scott Zucca and Tracy Lytle; and nine great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The Colonial Funeral Home of New Milford is in charge of arrangements.
