Easter offerings planned in community
Numerous organizations, places of worship and groups in the Greater New Milford area will offer a variety of Easter-related events as follows:
The Congregational and Episcopal churches in Roxbury will conduct a Good Friday service of the Stations of the Cross April 18 at noon at Christ Episcopal Church.
The First Congregational Church of New Milford on Main Street will offer community family egg dyeing in fellowship hall (bring own eggs) April 18 from noon to 1 p.m.; and Easter services April 20 at 7:30 a.m. (sunrise service) and 10 a.m., followed by coffee hour.
In addition, the church will participate in the April 18 Good Friday Cross Walk on the Village Green at noon.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Washington will offer a Good Friday service at 3 p.m.; a Holy Saturday vigil Mass April 19 at 8 p.m.; and Easter services April 20 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 25 Church St., Roxbury, and 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady, 34 Green Hill Road.
Christ Church in Roxbury will offer a Good Friday combined service with the First Congregational Church April 18 at noon and a liturgy at 7 p.m.; a service of the Great Vigil of Easter on Holy Saturday April 19 at 7 p.m.; and Easter services April 20 at 8 and 10 a.m.

Sherman Congregational Church will offer a Good Friday service, featuring "The Passion" presented by the youth group, April 18 at 7:30 p.m.; and Easter worship April 20, with a sunrise service at the town beach at 6:30 a.m., followed by refreshments at the pavilion, and an Easter service at the church at 10 a.m.

The Christian Community Good Friday Cross Walk will take place April 18 at noon in New Milford.
Residents are asked to gather on the steps of the First Congregational Church at 36 Main St.
Walkers will move to various spots on the Village Green, with readings and meditations based on the Gospel stories of the Passion of Christ.
The service will conclude on the steps of St. John's Episcopal Church before 1 p.m.
Younger children are invited to dye Easter eggs -- they should bring their own eggs -- at the First Congregational Church during the walk.
Salem Covenant Church in Washington will host its annual Easter bake and flower sale April 19 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The sale outside the Washington Food Market in Bryan Plaza will feature pies, cakes, Easter desserts and flowers.

The church will conduct its Easter Sunday service April 20 at 10:30 a.m.
The Roxbury Congregational Church will offer an outdoor Easter sunrise service April 20 at 6:30 a.m. at Good Hill Road, at Route 317 at Upper Grassy Hill Road at the Woodbury town line, followed by a breakfast at the church at 7 a.m., and a traditional Easter service with special music and a children's sermon at 10:30 a.m. at the church.

The Bridgewater Grange and the town of Bridgewater will co-sponsor an Easter egg hunt April 19 at 10 a.m. at the Bridgewater recreation area off Hut Hill Road.
Offerings will include separate hunts for children of different age groups and refreshments for adults.
First Apostolic Gathering of New Milford Inc. will conduct Easter services April 20 at 8 and 10 a.m.
Services will take place in the chapel at St. Peter's Masonic Lodge at 11 Aspetuck Ave.
The Glenholme School in Washington will host its annual spring hunt April 26 at 10:30 am.
Festivities, which will take place at the 81 Sabbaday Lane school, will include an egg and candy hunt, photographs with the Glenholme Hare, face painting and other activities.
Attendees are asked to bring a canned food item to donate to local food banks.
