Easter offerings planned in community
Numerous organizations, places of worship and groups in the Greater New Milford area will offer a variety of Easter-related events as follows:
The Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will serve a free pancake breakfast April 12 from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. egg hunt, both at the Route 7 firehouse.
Children up to age 9 are invited, and should bring an Easter basket.
Northville Baptist Church in the Northville section of New Milford will hold its annual Easter egg hunt April 12 at noon.
A rain date of April 13 is set at the 9 Little Bear Hill Road church.
Families with children of all ages are welcome.
Food and baked goods will be available to purchase.

The First Congregational Church of New Milford on Main Street will offer a Palm Sunday worship April 13 at 10 a.m., followed by coffee hour; Maundy Thursday worship April 17 at 7:30 p.m.; community family egg dyeing in fellowship hall (bring own eggs) April 18 from noon to 1 p.m.; and Easter services April 20 at 7:30 a.m. (sunrise service) and 10 a.m., followed by coffee hour.
In addition, the church will participate in the April 18 Good Friday Cross Walk on the Village Green at noon.
Christ Church in Roxbury will offer Palm Sunday worship April 13 at 8 and 10 a.m.; Holy Wednesday evening prayer April 16 at 7 p.m.; a Maundy Thursday lamb dinner and a liturgy April 17 at 6 and 7:30 p.m., respectively; a Good Friday combined service with the First Congregational Church April 18 at noon and a liturgy at 7 p.m.; a service of the Great Vigil of Easter on Holy Saturday April 19 at 7 p.m.; and Easter services April 20 at 8 and 10 a.m.

Sherman Congregational Church will offer Palm Sunday worship April 13 at 10 a.m.; Maundy Thursday worship, with communion, April 17 at 7:30 p.m.; a Good Friday service, featuring "The Passion" presented by the youth group, April 18 at 7:30 p.m.; and Easter worship April 20, with a sunrise service at the town beach at 6:30 a.m., followed by refreshments at the pavilion, and an Easter service at the church at 10 a.m.

An ecumenical Good Friday Cross Walk will be held April 18 at noon in New Milford.
Walkers will gather on the steps of the First Congregational Church at 36 Main Street.
Salem Covenant Church in Washington will hold its annual Easter bake and flower sale April 19 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The sale outside the Washington Food Market in Bryan Plaza will feature pies, cakes, Easter desserts and flowers.

The church will hold its Easter Sunday service April 20 at 10:30 a.m.
The Glenholme School in Washington will hold its annual spring hunt April 26 at 10:30 am.
Festivities, which will be held at the 81 Sabbaday Lane school, will include an egg and candy hunt, photographs with the Glenholme Hare, face painting and other activities.
Each year since 1995, the students and staff of the school have planned this event.
Attendees are asked to bring a canned food item to donate to local food banks.
