Dorothy Helmus, 87, loved genealogy

Mrs. Helmus was born June 19, 1925, in Boston, daughter of John F. and Dorothy (Brimecombe) Drummy, and was raised in Manhasset, Long Island, N.Y. She attended New York schools.
In the early years, Mrs. Helmus was employed with Lord and Taylor. In later years, she was a homemaker.
A resident of Ridgefield for the past 48 years coming from Great Neck, Long Island, she enjoyed travel and engaged herself in an ancestry hunt of her family roots.
She traveled during that time to England, Ireland and Nova Scotia. Her most important time was that spent with her family and friends.
Mrs. Helmus was a member of St. Mary Parish in Ridgefield.
In addition to her husband of 57 years, Mrs. Helmus is survived by three sons, Robert Helmus, and his wife, Becky, of Aspen, Colo., Peter Helmus, and his wife, June, of New Milford, and Drew Helmus, of Danbury; a daughter, Lisa Evans, of New Milford; a brother, William Drummy, of Standish, Maine; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
The Kane Funeral Home of Ridgefield was in charge of arrangements.
