Donna Marie (Catlin) Casey, of Kent, 46, died Sept. 16, 2012, from a bacterial infection after surviving two brain aneurisms in Hartford Hospital.

Mrs. Casey was known as an intensely proud and independent woman who raised a daughter, Raven Casey, 19, who is enrolled at Mount Holyoke College. She dedicated her life to Raven, and to their dog, Ellie.

Mrs. Casey was known for her upbeat personality and selfless deeds. Her vivacious personality gave her the special ability to connect with people.

She and Raven volunteered annually on Thanksgiving for those in need in Harlem, N.Y.

Her many jobs over the years included working as a photographer for Sears, delivering mail and as a trainer at Curves. Most recently, though, she worked as a tarot card reader; her new business cards state, "Life is divine and you are incredibly, mind-blowingly beautiful."

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a brother, Robert Louis Catlin III, and several cousins.

A celebration will take place Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at the pavilion in Macedonia Brook State Park, Route 341, in Kent. The celebration of life will begin at 1 p.m.

The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
