Faith Church in New Milford, in partnership with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, is providing privately funded temporary housing for those displaced by Hurricane Sandy.

The goals, some of which have been in place for several weeks, is to provide:

Twenty-five turn-key homes situated on the property to the north of Faith Church;

A box of food to feed a family of four for a week on a weekly basis in conjunction with Hillside Food Outreach;

A home-cooked meal available every Sunday at 3 p.m. at the church;

Open gym night Wednesdays (youths only), Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. at the church;

A family movie night every Sunday night from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church;

And education at Faith Preparatory School through scholarships made available through the Hope Foundation for Kids, a nonprofit organization that provides hope and help to kids in need.

Numerous donations are still needed for the homes, including dishes (plates, bowls, glasses, coffee cups); silverware (spoons, knives, forks, steak knives, large serving spoons, large knives, rubber spatulas, flipper spatulas, hand-held can opener); large mixing bowls, measuring cups (a set of plastic and a glass one) and colanders.

Also needed are cookware (sauce pans, frying pans, large pots, cookie sheets); small appliances (microwave, toaster, coffee pot); kitchen garbage cans; kitchen dish towels; mattresses; bedroom linens (100 new pillows, sheet sets, blankets/comforters); bath linens (towels, washcloths, hand towels); toilet brushes, plungers, small garbage cans; and four vehicles.
