Dominic V. Melillo, 80, of Southbury, formerly of Danbury, died March 9, 2012, at Waterbury Hospital.

He was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Danbury, a son of the late James V. and Antoinette (Gabriel) Melillo.

At a young age, he performed in Minstrel & Variety shows and won awards for his performances.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska.

Mr. Melillo enjoyed entertaining friends and family.

Mr. Melillo is survived by two sons, Peter J. Melillo, and his wife, Shari, of New Hartford, and Dominic C. Melillo, and his wife, Janet, of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Christine Melillo, of Torrington; three grandchildren, Dominic and Mason Melillo and Samantha Marie Melillo; a brother, Vincent James Melillo, of Bethel; and three sisters, Carmella "Dolly" Imbarrato, of Garden City, Long Island, N.Y., Aurora Wyrum, and her husband, Lee, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Marie Funk, and her husband, Lou, of Sherman, CT. He was predeceased by a daughter, Laura P. Melillo.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Burial was in St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury.

The Cornell Memorial Home in Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
