A Dog Wash Day will be offered Aug. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at A Paw Print Grooming Salon, located at 847 Federal Road in Brookfield.
The event will be a benefit for the Animal Welfare Society of New Milford.
"It's our third year doing this," said Tricia Brady of A Paw Print. "We raised just over $1,200 last year. We had 30 to 35 dogs, and people also just stopped in to make donations."
Ms. Brady was inspired to undertake this event out of gratitude for the services of the AWS.
"New Milford Animal Welfare has done a lot for me, a lot of my pets have come from there," she explained, "and they've helped a lot of my clients find pets."
The AWS branch in New Milford serves New Milford, Bridgewater, Roxbury, Washington and Brookfield.
"It's a fantastic idea," said AWS' Renee Gardner. "We are desperately in need of funding, especially in this economic climate. We appreciate Tricia's involvement and hard work, and that she promotes and appreciates what we do."
Dogs will be washed and damp dried. A bath for a small breed of dog, under 20 pounds, will be $15. Dogs 20 to 40 pounds will be $20, 50 to 100 pounds will be $30, giant breeds will be $40.
For dogs with double coats, add $10. Nail clips will be available at $5 each.
Participants should bring a towel for the back seat of the car.
Appointments are required at 203-775-6942. Matted and aggressive dogs will be declined and a valid rabies or town license will be required.
