Distinguished speakers event set in Sherman

The Sherman Library Association will hold its first Distinguished Speakers Series on April 28 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Guests may choose from a roster of speakers and enjoy a program, refreshments and hors d'oeuvres at a Sherman home.

Topics will include "Holistic Landscape Design: The Process and Importance of Integration" with landscape designer Catharine Cooke; "Easy Elegance: Design World Talent Shares Trade Secrets on Design, Decor and Entertaining at Home" with Sherman First Selectman and tastemaker Clay Cope; and "The Decade Ahead and Your Financial Well Being" with Terri Jacobsen, private wealth advisor to high net worth individuals, foundations and small businesses.

Also, "The Creative Process, the Industry and You: Approach to Writing Novels, Experience with Publishers, Editors & Agents, and Tips for Aspiring Writers" with author Hannah McKinnon; "Global Connections through Dance, Theater, Mask and Puppetry" with Adelka Polak, a traveling performing artist as a U.S. cultural ambassador; "The Story Behind the Pictures" with artist Ben Palagonia; "The New York Stock Exchange: A Walk in Time from the Golden Age of the '80s to the Digital Age of Today" with Ken Polcari, financial markets commentator on CNN and Bloomberg News; and "Sports Car Racing with Bob Sharp" with professional race car driver Bob Sharp.

Tickets are $50 for Sherman Library members and $55 for non-members.
