Diemer to talk about gardening
Minor Memorial Library in Roxbury will offer a program, "Expanding Your Backyard: Great Local Destinations," May 18 at 2 p.m.
Professional gardener Kathy Diemer will present a pictorial tour of nearby gardens at the South Street library.
Diemer will focus on nine locations that hold special appeal for those interested in gardening.
She will discuss Mine Hill in Roxbury; Hollister House in Washington; Gertrude Jekyll's Garden in Woodbury; the Mount in Lenox, Mass.; and Walkway over the Hudson, Patterson Quarry, Wave Hill, Innisfree and The High Line, all in New York.
Diemer has been gardening for over 30 years and has transformed her formerly "weed-infested" property in Sherman into a series of gardens overflowing with perennials, bulbs, shrubs and trees over the past 20 years.
She has a blog, A Garden For All; has produced a cover article, "Designing for Six Months of Fragrance" for Fine Gardening magazine; and conducts annual classes on container design in Roxbury and Sherman.
The president of the Mad Gardeners has had her gardens featured in various media.
