Defonte talk to focus on gardening
The Judea Garden in Washington will host its annual volunteer meeting April 5 at 6:30 p.m. A special program, "Eggplants on Parade: Creating a Beautiful and Productive Vegetable Garden," will be presented at the library on Wykeham Road.
Anita Dafonte, a Newtown resident, will be the guest speaker, and show slides from her own garden. She is the sales director for Coast of Maine Organic Products. To submit a question to be answered at the lecture, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Located in Steep Rock's Macricostas Preserve and supported by St. John's Episcopal Church and the town of Washington, garden volunteers have grown and distributed more than 10,000 pounds of fruit and vegetables to local food banks.
Those interested in becoming a volunteer should contact Denise Arturi at 860-868-2880 or at email@example.com.
