The Danbury 14-year-old travel baseball team completed a sweep through this year's Jimmy Fund tournament by defeating the Newtown 13s 13-5 in the final game on Wednesday night. Danbury went through the tournament 5-0 while outscoring its opponents 59-9.

Matt Shail led the hitting attack with a home run, three triples and two doubles. Chris Deldebbio, named the final game MVP, led the defense with several sparkling at shortstop while
Kevin Williams led the pitching staff by tossing nine shutout innings. This year's team also included J.P. Dennehy , Brian Hatcher ,
Justin Kenny , Joe Materelli, Garin Mooney , Mark Stillson, Mike Treglia , Devin Vitti, Chris Zaborowski and Jack Zanine. The team is coached by head coach Jim Zanine and assistants Jerry Dennehy
, Ron Vitti and Bud Williams . The 14-year-old District Tournament is being held this year in Danbury at Rogers Park starting on Monday.

Senior Babe Ruth

Bethel 15, Newtown 3 -- Bethel improved to 7-1 with the win in the Jimmy Fund Tournament. P.J. Geary got the win on the mound for Bethel. Dean White led the offense with five hits, including a grand slam. D.J. Bruckenthal had two hits, including a three-run home run.
Kevin Galvin and Matt Principe also had two hits each. Bethel plays next on Monday in the quarterfinals of the Jimmy Fund Tournament.
