BRIDGEPORT - The Danbury 12-year-old travel baseball team advanced to the medal round of the Nutmeg State Games with a 4-1 victory over Manchester Friday.

Danbury pitchers Austin Fiddner and Ash Rao combined on a one-hitter. Fiddner worked three innings, struck out four and gave up just one hit, a solo home run.

Rao worked three innings and struck out five. Outfielders Josh Wilson
and Christian Alves both made sparkling defensive plays. Chris DelDebbio, Austin Calitro and Fiddner each had two hits. Danbury plays today at 3 p.m. at Seaside Park. If they win today, they play for the gold medal Sunday. If they lose today, they play for the bronze Sunday.

All-Star Batting Range 5, IED Rebels 2: Jeremy Shaw pitched a complete game five-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Tim Fegan had three hits, including three-run double in the seventh inning. Ryan Marcoux had a double. Shortstop Nick Carter stood out defensively.
