The Corporation for New Milford Economic Development will hold its annual meeting Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. at the Makery Coworking on Bank Street in town.

The public is invited to attend the meeting that will feature the election of officers and a State of the Town address by Mayor Pete Bass.

“We look forward to greeting area businesses and residents at our meeting,” said Oley Carpp, corporation chairman.

The Corporation is a non-profit organization whose mission to expand and develop new business opportunities in New Milford and promote a business-friendly climate that attracts more industry to town.

In March 2018, board members voted to reinstate the corporation after a two-year dormant period, and have been hard at work on organizational matters, board recruitment and support of initiatives, including the recent New Milford Riverfest, which the Corporation sponsored.

The Corporation has money available for façade improvement projects in the Village Center and loan programs for businesses throughout the town.

Applications are available by contacting Community Investment Officer Kathy Castagnetta at kcastagnetta@newmilford.org or 860-488-0055.

A past example of a Corporation façade improvement project is Ruth Chase Flowers on Church Street, which used a combination of grant and low-interest loan programs to help fund the painting of its building exterior.

Following the meeting, there will be an opportunity to meet with members of the Corporation and enjoy light refreshments.
