Concert series to open in Washington

The fifth annual summer concert festival of the Washington Friends of Music will kick off July 21 at 5:30 p.m. with the New Baroque Soloists.

Concerts will also be held July 28, Aug. 4 and 11 at 5:30 p.m.

Artistic Director Douglas Myers will lead the group of musicians July 21 in the Washington Meetinghouse on Washington’s town Green.

The program will include compositions by Bach, Telemann and Quantz and will feature solos by internationally acclaimed members of the chamber orchestra.

Musicians will include Theodore “Teddy” Arm on violin, Samuel Magill of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra on violoncello, Ben Woodward of London on organ.

A reception will follow the concert.

Tickets are $20 for first-time guests, $10 for students, $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Tickets to all four concerts are $90. Children will be admitted for free.
