Communications skills workshop planned

The Makery Coworking in New Milford will play host to a communication-skills workshop tailored for college students preparing to return for the fall semester Aug. 10 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The session at the 20 Bank St. Center will be facilitated by Tony Vengrove, a long-time communication and innovation executive, who is also founder of Makery Coworking.

“Exceptional communication skills are essential for strong relationships and a prosperous career,” said Vengrove. “I’m passionate about helping inspire students to become better leaders who are more confident about advocating for their wants and ideas.”

Participants will receive their own Everything DiSC® assessment profile, which is a transformational tool that helps individuals understand themselves and others to have more effective relationships.

The interactive workshop will help students learn how to spark meaningful and purposeful discussions that begin with understanding oneself.

“I recall wishing I received communication training earlier on in my career,” Vengrove said. “The workshop will help students get a leg up so they can communicate better with peers, faculty, and job recruiters.”

Class size is limited to 12 students.

The fee is $125 and includes the 20-page Everything DiSC profile, Interaction Guide and pizza dinner.
