Jeff Leach (New Canaan), Norwalk's Andrew Kydes (Fairfield Prep) and Charlie Reiter (Staples) were first team ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic University Division District men's soccer selections.

Leach, a junior at Colgate who has a 3.75 GPA majoring in Economics, and Kydes, a senior at the U.S. Military Academy with a 3.89 GPA in Civil Engineering, were District 1 selections. Reiter, a senior at Davidson with a 3.48 GPA in Political Science was a District 3 honoree.

Two former area athletes were also selected on the ESPN CoSIDA University Division District 1women's soccer team.

Furtuna Velaj (Westhill) of Quinnipiac, who has a 3.66 GPA in political science, was a second team selection while Kiki Koroshetz (Brien McMahon), a senior at Colgate with a 3.91 in her English major, was a third team pick.

Matt Kane (Fairfield Warde) had a time of 26:00 to help Villanova finish third in the Big East Cross Country championship. Matt Terry (Danbury) finished in 26:08 with fifth-place Providence while Antem Skobrev (Darien) of UConn had a time of 27:10.

Heather Stephens (Ridgefield) had a time of 22:27 as the Syracuse women placed third in the Big East meet.

Lexie Hearn (Greenwich) has a team-high 10 goals and five assists with the 14th-ranked Gettysburg field hockey team (14-4).

Lee Sheldon (Darien) started all 16 games at midfield with the Roanoke field hockey team (2-14).

Karlie Tiscia (Stamford) appeared in all 18 games on defense with the Bryant field hockey team (7-11).

Lindsay Davies (Greenwich Academy) scored the game-winning goal and Katrina Tulla (New Canaan) was the winner in goal as the Williams downed Tufts in field hockey action.

Marlotte van den Bergh (Greenwich) has a goal and an assist with the 9th-ranked Boston College field hockey team (13-5) which recently lost to 6th-ranked Wake Forest.

Freshman Jonathan Arisitzabal (Westhill) collected four goals and six assists with the Bridgeport men's soccer team (10-4-3).

Austin Bowers (Greenwich) had two goals and three assists and midfielder Brendan Lane (Fairfield Ludlowe) has played in eight games with the Dartmouth men's soccer team (9-5-1).

Keeper Jaime Hahn (Ridgefield) allowed one goal in 33.22 minutes as the Gettysburg men's soccer team (8-6-2) defeated 8th-ranked Johns Hopkins.

Alex Uscilla (St. Joseph) has four goals and two assists with the Hartford women's soccer team (6-10-2).

Allie Davis (Fairfield Warde) has appeared in 15 games as a back with the Springfield women's soccer team (11-4-3).

Junior co-captain Sarah Yaeger (Staples) has started 17 games as a back with the Gettysburg women's soccer team (9-7-1).

Lauren Landri (New Canaan) has 245 kills, 73 blocks and 70 digs with the Western New England volleyball team (25-8).

Phoebe Maglathlin (Darien) has six spikes, eight digs and two aces with the Duke volleyball team (21-4).

Defensive end Tim Romano (Staples) has recorded nine solo and 30 assisted tackles and Eric Zavadsky (St. Joseph) had also seen time with the Union football team (6-2, 5-0 league)

Chris Hines (Norwalk) is averaging 3.7 yards a run, has two receptions, one for a touchdown, and has averaged 19 yards on 11 kickoff returns with the Mount Ida football team.
