Several churches in the area will hold Christmas services in the coming days.

The First Congregational Church in Washington will hold an early Christmas Eve service, featuring Christmas readings, carols and candlelight, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m.

The First Congregational Church on Route 7 North in Kent will hold several services in the coming days.

They will include a blue Christmas service, a quiet service of healing, comfort and remembrance, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m.; a family service Dec. 23 at 10 a.m.; and a Christmas Eve service of lessons and carols Christmas Eve at 9 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church on Route 7 North in New Milford will hold a Fourth Sunday in Advent Holy Eucharist Dec. 23 at 10:30 a.m.; a Christmas Eve candlelight service Christmas Eve at 7 p.m.; a Christmas Day Eucharist at 10 a.m.; and a holy family/New Year’s Eucharist Dec. 30 at 10:30 a.m.

Merryall Chapel on Chapel Hill Road will hold a Christmas Eve service with the Rev. Bill Hibbard, chaplain at Waterbury Hospital, at 9 p.m.

Sherman Congregational Church at 6 Church Road will hold a Christmas Eve services Dec. 24, with a family celebration Christmas service at 7:30 p.m. and a traditional service of lessons and carols, followed by the candlelight singing of “Silent Night” outside, weather permitting, at 10 p.m.
