The sixth annual Christmas Run for the Children five-kilometer road race will be held Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. in New Milford.

The event is organized and hosted by Wallie Jahn of Road & Track Sports in Brookfield to help children and their families at the holiday season.

Runners are asked to donate a toy to be given to a child for Christmas via New Milford Social Services or the United Way. Toys may be dropped off in advance at Road & Track or on race day at Dan's Place on Railroad Street.

The race course will begin near the Maxx at Railroad Street and take runners and walkers along Wellsville Avenue, left on Wells Road, left on Aspetuck Ridge Road, left on Housatonic Avenue to Young's Field Road, left on Bridge Street o finish in Chapin Plaza next to the railroad tracks.

Prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers in age divisions 10 & younger, 11-13, 14-8, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and older.

On-line registration at $18 or donation of an unwrapped gift of equal value will be available at www.roadntracksports.com will be available through Dec. 4. Race-day registration will be $20 or the donation of an unwrapped gift of equal value.

T-shirts will be sold as the supply lasts for $10.
