The Roxbury Congregational Church will present a choral vesper service Oct. 27 at 4 p.m.

In addition to prayers and silent, the service will feature the choral group Montage singing Hans Leo Hassler's Mass.

This Mass is an example of a "Parody Mass,"an "important type of 15th and 16th century Mass composition, that incorporates material derived from various voice parts or from entire sections of another polyphonic composition (motet, chanson, madrigal)," according to the Harvard Concise Dictionary of Music.

Montage members include soprano Deidra Woodend, who is studying voice and sings in four groups in the area; alto Susan Kelly, who teaches music in the Wilton school system, teaches private piano lessons and sings with the Wilton Singers; tenor Jim Burch, a registered piano technician who has sung with several choral groups and plays flute and piccolo with the New Canaan Town Band; and bass Mark Wolmer, who studied voice and performs with Montage and the Roxbury UCC Church choice.

A free will offering will be taken at the 24 Church St. church.
