Charles Brady, founder of Nautilus No. 1
Charles "Chuck" P. Brady Sr. died Oct. 22. He was the widower of Rose (Ackerman) Brady, who died in 2002.
Mr. Brady was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Cleveland.
He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1956 and from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1960. He was inducted into both his high school and college halls of fame for football.
Mr. Brady worked for Union Carbide for more than 25 years, was the founder and owner of Nautilus No. 1 Fitness Center in New Milford and was employed at Kamco Supply Co., where he worked with his oldest son, Chuck Jr.
Mr. Brady was an avid sports fan, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Mr. Brady is survived by his two sons, Chuck, and his wife, Sherry, of New Milford; and Kyle, and his wife, Jennifer, of Warren; seven grandchildren, Skyler, Brock, Kassi, Derik, Zachary, Alex and Sean; three brothers, Daniel, and his wife, Amy; Tom, and his wife, Robin; Tim, and his wife, Sandy; three sisters, Darlene, and her husband, Chuck; Sally, and her husband, Dennis; and Deborah; a brother-in-law, Patrick Barry; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Brady; his companion, Frances Revell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Mr. Brady was predeceased by a son, Scott, in 2009; his parents, Charles C. and Agnes Rose (Krause) Brady; a sister, Marianne E. Barry; and a brother-in-law, Jake Gelvin.
Burial was at St. Francis Cemetery in New Milford.
The Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford was in charge of arrangements.
