The After School Arts Program in Washington, which serves northwestern Connecticut, will hold its 11th annual Celebration of Young Writers June 4 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

It will showcase more than 200 submissions from over 37 schools across the state.

Ten students have been selected to be featured at the event at The Gunnery, 22 Kirby Road, in town.

Ranging in ages from 6 to 17, each will read their own piece in front of the more than 400 guests.

Festivities will begin with a cocktail party and silent auction.

Auction items include tickets for the critically acclaimed new musical, “Hamilton,” Yankee tickets, backstage tour of the American Ballet Theatre, and a Zac Posen handbag.

The event is a major fundraiser for the non-profit organization.

This year’s honoree, Ellen McCourt, will present the sixth annual Frank McCourt Prize for Excellence in Teaching to this year’s recipient, Rena Winton from Nonnewaug High School.

Tickets are $75 for general admission, $125 for reserved seating, $500 to $1,000 for patron seating and $2,500 and up for sponsorships.silver patron seating and $2,500 to $5,000 for sponsors.
