Carolyn Cassavechia, 85, of Newtown, formerly of Ridgefield, died Sept. 28, 2011, at Bethel Health Care in Bethel. She was the widow of Jolindo Cassavechia.
Mrs. Cassavechia was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Jude and Helen (Fortin) Cyr. She was raised in Stamford and attended Stamford schools.
A resident of Ridgefield since 1952 coming from Stamford, she moved to Nunnawauk Meadows one year ago.
She enjoyed bowling, square dancing and country western music. She lived each day for her family.
Mrs. Cassavechia was a member of St. Mary Church in Ridgefield.
Mrs. Cassavechia is survived by three daughters, Lauretta Foristall of Sarasota, Fla., Carol Cassavechia, of New Milford, and Joanne Lockwood, and her husband, William, of Newtown; three brothers, Albert Cyr, and his wife, Marte, of Redding, Lawrence Cyr, and his wife, Tina, of Bethel, and Richard Cyr, and his wife, Barbara, of Bethel; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Cassavechia was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence Cassavechia and Louis Cassavechia.
