Carol A. Hagadorn, 68, of Ridgefield, a retired Ridgefield educator, died Aug. 29, 2010, at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. She was the wife of Robert E. Hagadorn.

She was born in The Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late Peter and Marcella (Ludwig) Borzon.

Mrs. Hagadorn attended New York schools and graduated from St. John's University with an emphasis in Chinese studies.

An educator since 1965, Mrs. Hagadorn was employed in The Bronx and Yonkers school systems and, for 20 years, in the Ridgefield school system, retiring in 1995.

She taught history and social studies in addition to leading various extra-curricular activities.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past 38 years after moving from Yonkers, N.Y., she was active in open-space issues, Friends of Bennetts Pond, the Meals on Wheels program and St. Mary's Church, where she was a former catechist.

In her early years, Mrs. Hagadorn was an avid skier and runner and, throughout her life, she maintained an affection for animals and a strong interest in politics and government.

In addition to her husband of 45 years, she is survived by two daughters, Cathleen Hagadorn of Bethel and Rebecca Goetz of New Milford; a sister, Jeanne K. Borzon, of Hartsdale, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Steven and Shane.

There will be no calling hours.

The Kane Funeral Home of Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.
