Jamie’s Sweet Shop has opened for the holiday season at 159 Danbury Road (Route 7) in New Milford.

The shop, in business since 1995, specializes in hand-poured chocolates, gift baskets and favors for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, retirement parties and company functions.

The business also has an online presence.

Cheryl Podyma of Washington has opened Because 4 Paws at 41 South Main St. in New Milford.

The business is a dog and cat animal rescue, as well as a low-cost vet clinic.

Podyma said the rescue part of the business has been open for three years, but the vet clinic is new.

Klemm Real Estate has announced Brandon Hurtado has joined the real estate agency, which has offices throughout Litchfield County.

After living and traveling extensively both trans-continentally and intercontinentally, Hurtado and his wife found a home in Litchfield County, where she was raised.

Hurtado will work out of the Woodbury office.
