Brookfield man arrested for hit and run accident
A 39-year-old Brookfield man is free on $7,900 court set bond on charges relating to a hit-and-run accident.
Matthew Ukers of Pleasant Rise Circle was arrested Tuesday at his home where police located him following an accident near Our Lady of The Lake Church in New Milford.
New Milford police responded Tuesday at 6:32 p.m. to Sullivan Road for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
A 16-year-old boy had been struck by tan Lincoln Towncar that fled the scene, police said.
The youth had contusions and abrasions and pain in his right forearm and foot, police report. He was transported to New Milford Hospital where he was treated and released, according to police.
After police located Ukers, the subsequent investigation led to his arrest.
Ukers was charged with evading responsibility/injury, making a restricted turn/failure to signal properly and grant right of way.
His next court date will be April 4 in Superior Court in Bantam. The youth's name was not released.
