Bridgewater Country Fair slated
The 65th edition of the Bridgewater Country Fair will be offered Friday to Sunday, Aug. 19-21, on the grounds behind the firehouse along Route 133 in Bridgewater.
The event, which annually draws thousands of patrons from throughout the region, is sponsored by the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department as its chief fundraiser.
The fair will be open Friday from 4 to 11 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Major fair highlights will include an opening ceremony Friday at 6:30 p.m., followed by a parade at 6:45 p.m.; a children’s pet parade Saturday at 9:30 a.m.; a pedal tractor pull for children ages 5 to 10 Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m.; an antique tractor pull Saturday at 1 p.m.; a garden tractor pull Sunday at 11:30 a.m.; a firemen’s raffle and Bingo.
In addition, K-9 demonstrations, music, Border Collie demonstrations, freestyle Motocross shows, and hot dog pig racing will be offered.
Musical entertainment will include Flashback Friday at 8 p.m., The Mad Hatters Chorus Saturday at 2:30 p.m., JR. Waters (country music) Saturday at 5 p.m., Big Shot — a Billy Joel Tribute Band Saturday at 8 p.m. and Vegas McGraw — a Tim McGraw Tribute Band Sunday at 2 p.m.
Amusement rides; art shows; flower, baking, vegetable and fruit competitions; needlework and hobby displays; commercial, industrial and agricultural exhibits; a mechanical bull and Knockerball; a cake Lotto; animal exhibits; crafts; and food and refreshments will also be featured throughout the three-day event.
A pie-eating contest and hay bale tossing will be held Saturday and Sunday at times to be announced.
Tickets for the firemen’s raffle are $5 for one ticket and $25 for five tickets.
Prizes include a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport Willy’s Edition (first prize); a Raven 7100B multi-purpose hybrid (second prize); a Honda Rukus Scooter (third prize); a trailer mounted custom smoke/grill (fourth prize); a Honda EU3000i generator (fifth prize); a Phantom 3 drone (sixth prize); and a $500 Gym Source gift certificate (seventh prize).
Admission to the fair will be $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and free for children younger than age 12. A three-day pass will be $16.
Ride bracelets will be available Friday only from 6 to 10 p.m.
