Bridgeport extends its free grab-and-go meal program for students
BRIDGEPORT — Students learning remotely in the city are being encouraged to come to school anyway to get free meals.
The city school district’s Food & Nutrition Services Department is trying to get the word out that all remote-learning students in the district, age 18 and younger, are eligible for free breakfast and lunches.
The grab-and-go meals are available at all city schools from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On Fridays during the same time slot students will get three days worth of meals to cover the weekend.
In addition, nine schools will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays to serve bagged meals.
Those sites include: Barnum, 495 Waterview Ave.; Blackham, 425 Thorme St.; Batalla, 606 Howard Ave.; Columbus, 275 George St.; Curiale, 300 Laurel Ave.; Discovery, 4510 Park Ave.; Harding, 379 Bond St.; Roosevelt, 680 Park Ave.; and Cross, 1175 Reservoir Ave..
