The New Milford VNA & Hospice recently hosted a successful fundraising event, the seventh annual Caring for Our Community Breakfast.

Board and staff members welcomed more than 150 supporters and friends April 5 at the 19 Main venue on Main Street.

The event featured a catered breakfast by Bonni Manning, a smoothie bar by Natural Marketplace and the presentation of three songs from “Mary Poppins” sung by New Milford High School student Cassie Bielmeier.

Guests were greeted by Executive Director Andrea Wilson, Mayor David Gronbach and board member Attorney Randall DiBella.

Local entrepreneur Patty Garland then spoke about developing the ability to trust those who want to help you and how stepping out of one’s comfort zone to receive that help can impact your life for the better.

Garland ran the Curves exercise establishment in New Milford for 15 years and is now the Philips Lifeline manager at New Milford VNA & Hospice.

Two clients of New Milford VNA & Hospice offered first-person testimonials regarding the wonderful care they have received from the NMVNA staff.

The New Milford VNA & Hospice is celebrating 99 years of providing home health care, community programs and Hospice services to the people of Western Connecticut.

Funds raised at the breakfast will help provide community services such as health visits to the underinsured, diabetic education, flu clinics, blood pressure screenings and caregiver support groups.

They have been named to the top 1 percent of home care providers nationwide by Home Care Elite.
