Barbara Branagan-Mitchell is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her business, Branagan Communications Consultants, in New Milford.

The business is a public relations, publicity placement, marketing communications and writing/editing consulting agency.

“Specializing in public relations, publicity placement and marketing communications have been my singular professional focus for more than two decades,” Branagan said. “My career began in large public relations agencies in Manhattan and took me around the world representing large national and international travel-oriented clients.”

Since 2004, the company has been providing awareness-building public relations, publicity placement and marketing communications campaigns for small to medium-sized businesses in the New Haven, Litchfield and Fairfield county regions of the state.

The consulting agency, which has its website at, also offers services in writing and editing of content for websites, branding and sales materials, newsletters, brochures, and presentations.

Prior to launching her consulting firm in Katonah, N.Y., in 1993, Branagan-Mitchell served as the public relations manager for the Heritage Hills condominium community in Somers, N.Y.

From 1994 to 2004, she was a business owner in the Westchester County community and was chairperson of the Advertising Club of Westchester’s annual Big “W” Awards. She served on its board of directors for four years.

She was also a recognized member of the Westchester County Business Association.

During the past 14 years in Connecticut, Branagan-Mitchell has been recognized and awarded for her many contributions to business organizations. An active member of the Waterbury Regional Chamber since 2008, she received the chamber’s Volunteer of the Year Award in 2010 and was named Ambassador of the Year in 2016.

She has volunteered as a Chamber Ambassador since 2009, and in 2010 she graduated as a team leader from the chamber’s Leadership Greater Waterbury program.
