Bomb threat closed Kohl's early on Black Friday

Police are investigating a bomb threat sent to Kohl's department store in New Milford that caused evacuation of shoppers and forced closure of a portion of Danbury Road (Route 7 South) and surrounding roads for hours early on Black Friday, Nov. 28.
New Milford police evacuated the store at 169 Danbury Road at about 12:10 a.m. after receiving information about an emailed threat to the store.
Customers and employees were evacuated and a perimeter was set up around the shopping plaza.
Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2 firefighters closed Route 7 between Pickett District Road and Still River Drive.
Pickett District and Dodd roads were also closed until an on-scene investigation was completed Friday about 3 a.m.
State police assisted in a check of the exterior and interior of Kohl's before the store reopened.
The incident remains under investigation.
