The Wheels Program of greater New Milford will host a breakfast buffet fundraiser March 2 from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

Festivities will take place at The Maxx at 94 Railroad St.

Tickets are $15, and can be purchased at wheelsofnewmilfordorg or at the Wheels office at 40 Main St. Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Wheels aims to “provide the highest quality transportation for senior citizens and citizens with disabilities in the Greater New Milford area to their nonemergency medical appointments,” according to its mission statement.

More than 20 volunteers drive Wheels’ insured vehicles, including a wheelchair accessible bus.

The organization serves the New Milford area, but can transport to out-of-town medical facilities as far away as Yale in New Haven.

“I have been driving for the program for over eight years,” said volunteer Rich Power. “ When I retired from teaching after 36 years, I attended a retirement seminar and one of the things we were told was that we would probably have to make new friends, and I have.

“The office staff, the other drivers and the clients we transport have become my new friends,” Power said. “I really enjoy my volunteer time and I look forward to doing it for years to come.”
