The Roxbury Land Trust will hold its first Dave Beglan Memorial Walk at Mine Hill Preserve from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 24.
The event will be canceled in case of inclement weather.
John Pawloski, founder and director of the Connecticut Museum of Mining and Mineral Science, will lead the two-hour walk along the historic Donkey Trail.
During the walk, Pawloski will discuss mining history, furnace operation and mineralogy, focusing on Mine Hill.
Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, Mine Hill Preserve is the site of a 19th-century iron mine and furnace complex.
The land trust acquired the preserve in 1978 and restored and stabilized the stone and brick structural remains of the furnace complex.
The walk is being held in memory of Dave Beglan, historian and director of the Roxbury Land Trust, who passed away in October 2017.
