The Sweet Spot on Railroad Street in New Milford is celebrating its fifth anniversary.

Jolene Sallisky, a third-generation baker with more than 10 years of baking experience, is the owner.

The Sweet Spot sells baked goods made on-site from scratch, coffee, tea and ice cream.

The ice cream comes from Bucks, a small, family-run creamery in Milford.

She also offers coffee and espresso in the mornings, along with breakfast sandwiches from Redding Roasters in Bethel.

Vegan and gluten-free items are available.

Joe Vita of New Milford traveled to northwest Arkansas June 3-6 to attend Walmart's "Associate Week" 2014 shareholders meeting.

Vita is an employee at the New Milford Walmart store.

Activities for his trip included concerts, a Walmart U.S. and logistics associate meeting, Walmart U.S. divisional meetings, an associate expo and tours, a Naturals baseball game and a shareholders meeting.
