VNA Northwest, which serves the New Milford area, has been notified by Union Savings Bank Foundation, Inc. that it has been selected to receive a grant in the amount of $6,110.
The grant will support skilled visits from nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and medical social workers to Litchfield County patients in need of home health care.
In a letter to recipients, the foundation reported for the 2013 granting period it would award grants totaling $200,380 to 49 organizations, from almost $600,000 in requests.
VNA Northwest requested the funding to provide home health services to patients who are uninsured or underinsured.
Recipients of the visits may include the frail elderly, as well as patients of any age who suffer from chronic illness or who have experienced a traumatic accident or illness.
