When Christian Community Outreach Ministries applied for a 2011 grant from Union Savings Bank, the Danbury non-profit organization wasn't expecting to receive a car instead.

The foundation grant in the amount of $500 is made possible by the Marion Williams and Alice Edwards Fund, and the Draper Foundation Fund.

Monies will be used for its annual Holiday Giving Program, which serves individuals and families in the Foundation's 20-town catchment area.

Parishioners from two local churches, as well as individual volunteers and VNA Northwest staff members, work together to provide and distribute gifts and gift cards to patients in need.
