The Thrift Mart of New Milford will hold a one-day bag sale June 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Patrons may fill a bag with clothing -- excluding handbags and shoes -- items for $8.

The store, located between Ring's End and Monro Muffler at 146 Danbury Road (Route 7 South), is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Donations are accepted during business hours only and qualify for a tax-deductible receipt.

Union Savings Bank, which has offices in New Milford, has announced the addition of John E. Gergots of Oxford as vice president of commercial lending in Litchfield.

In his new position, Mr. Gergots is responsible for commercial lending to middle market-size businesses throughout Litchfield County, managing a portfolio of commercial real estate and commercial and industrial (C&I) loans, connecting with new prospects and managing existing commercial client relationships.

Union Savings has also hired Mark S. Chory as vice president of commercial lending in Danbury. In his new position, Mr. Chory is responsible for developing and managing commercial account relationships for new and existing clients.

Prior to joining Union Savings Bank, Mr. Chory was vice president, relationship manager and, most recently, portfolio manager at Webster Bank, where he started as assistant vice president in 1992.

Mr. Chory obtained his bachelor of business administration degree with a concentration in marketing from Western Connecticut State University's Ancell School of Business.

He is also a graduate of the Connecticut School of Finance and Management and is an affiliate member of the Commercial Broker's Alliance.

A Danbury resident his entire life, Mr. Chory is married to Jean Chory and has a daughter, Rebecca.

Mr. Chory is active in the community, serving on the boards for the Danbury Parking Authority, Family and Children's AID, Lebanon American Club and the City of Danbury's Government Entities Review Board.

He also is a volunteer firefighter, EMT and trustee for the Wooster Hose Fire Department and United Way Day of Caring volunteer.

New Milford Spirit Shoppe has opened a second store, NeJaime's Wine and Spirits, in town.

The 8,000-suare-foot store is located at 164 Danbury Road (Route 7), in the plaza that also houses Stop & Shop and Walmart.

A selection of wine, beer and spirits are available.

The second store complements the Spirit Shoppe at 16 Prospect Hill Road.
