AutoZone plan shelved for the time being
The developer of a proposed AutoZone parts store has temporarily withdrawn his application before the New Milford Zoning Commission.
Developer Robert Blank, in business as NMSC LLC, said Monday the proposed 7,381-square-foot building is being redesigned.
Mr. Blank said he plans to resubmit an application to the Zoning Commission some time in January.
An application before the Planning Commission to subdivide the 4.56 acre site at 70-74 Danbury Road into two lots expired Dec. 8.
The original zoning application, submitted in September, met with concern from the fire marshal and the Department of Public Works.
Fire marshal Karen Facey said she was concerned the "tight swing" to be made by trucks entering the proposed driveway would make it difficult for fire engines to access the site.
Zoners also have concerns about the proposed curb cut at the south end of the property, the reduced size of the lot proposed in the subdivision application and how many vehicle trips would have eventually been made at the site if a possible second lot there were to be developed commercially.
