New Milford Hospital will present a program with Matthew Warshauer, author of "Connecticut in the American Civil War: Slavery, Sacrifice, and Survival," Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

The program will be held in Robison Room B at the Elm Street hospital.

In his book, Warshauer explains how extensively the state was involved in the conflict: sending more than thirty regiments to the front, had a broad industrial capacity, an active home front, and is currently home to more than 130 Civil War monuments.

Warshauer is a professor of history at Central Connecticut State University and co-chair of the Connecticut Civil War Commemoration Commission.
