Asks supports for 'community-minded' VNA
To the Editor:
A great deal has changed since 1918 when a group of local citizens founded the New Milford Visiting Nurse Association to respond to the influenza epidemic, but our commitment to providing quality health care to meet community needs remains the same.
New Milford Visiting Nurse continues to be a leading provider of home health services and community health programs in the greater New Milford area.
We employ more than 75 dedicated staff members, 90 percent of whom live right in the towns we serve. Because of these hometown connections, we are able to establish deep and lasting relationships with physicians and other members of the medical community to provide an unparalleled continuity of care for our patients.
We are sure you know someone who has benefited from our care, whether it be skilled nursing or home health aides, intravenous therapy, our well child clinic or immunizations for school children.
We provide an adult health promotion program for senior citizens, a "Telehealth" program to monitor patients' vital signs and a myriad of community screenings including blood pressure, stroke screenings and flu clinics.
We also offer a Medicare certified hospice program which cares for terminally ill people and their families.
Bereavement programs, including Camp Jonathan for children who have lost loved ones, are offered for youth and adults in our community.
On the municipal level, we work closely with town officials in areas such as emergency preparedness and community health education.
New Milford Visiting Nurse is truly the personification of the small-town home health care provider. We are asking for help so that we can continue to bring this excellent care to you.
