The Merryall Center for the Arts will offer two activities this weekend.

"Friday Night Flicks with Fred" will kick off June 13, beginning a season-long tribute to Fredric March, a longtime New Milford resident and co-founder of the Merryall Center.

March, the only actor to win two Oscars and two Tonys, will be featured in a screening of "Inherit the Wind," the story of the 1925 Scopes "monkey trial."

He won the Best Actor category at the Berlin International Film Festival for this role.

The cast includes Spencer Tracy, Norman Fell, Harry Morgan, Gene Kelley and March's wife, Florence Eldridge.

On June 14, Samantha Lane Talmadge will take attendees "Around the World in 60 Minutes," with songs from various cultures across the world

Attendees of the June 14 performance are invited to participate in Tanglewood on the West Aspetuck, where patrons are invited to picnic on the center's deck, overlooking the river.

Admission to the June 13 screening is $10 for adults and $5 for students, including free popcorn and soft drink. Tickets to the June 14 performance are $25.

Tickets, memberships and subscriptions are available at or at the door.

Picnicking will begin at 7 p.m.; events will be at 7:30 p.m.
