Artists in Motion to hold gala
Artists in Motion, a nonprofit dance company based in New Milford, will hold its first major fundraiser, a gala event, April 6.
"Aim for the Stars" will begin at 6 p.m. pre-performance cocktail party, followed by performances by AIM dancers, professional guest artists and musical entertainment actress, singer and dancer Savannah Wise of Broadway's "Rock of Ages" and TV's "Smash."
A post-performance reception, a silent auction and dancing will conclude the evening at St. John's Episcopal Church hall on Whittlesey Avenue.
Chase Brock of "Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark" and "The Chase Brock Experience" will serve as host for the evening.
AIM, which is residence at FineLine Theater Arts, was conceived in 2011 to bridge the gap between the student dancer and the professional dance artist by providing performance opportunities, community outreach programs and interactions with local schools.
AIM seeks to give back to the community by funding free performances for the public and performing on behalf of other charitable organizations.
AIM has awarded scholarships for workshops and participated in benefit performances in Stamford, Danbury, New Milford and Torrington and at SUNY in Purchase, N.Y.
In 2013, AIM will mature its community outreach program by partnering with local schools to offer adaptive dance programs to children with special needs.
AIM presently has 22 dance company members from eight surrounding towns ranging in ages from 10 to 18.
Tickets to the gala are $25 per person for standing room performance and table seating post-show and $20 for standing room only. Priority seating tickets are sold out.
