Arthur L. Caldwell, 84, of New Milford died Nov. 4 at his home. He was the widower of Helen B. Dombrowski.

Mr. Caldwell was the son of the late Lyman P. and Florence M. (Comstock) Caldwell.

He was a lifetime member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was a square dance caller and an accordion player for more than 45 years, performing with several bands in the New Milford area from the World War II era to the mid-1980s.

As a self-taught musician, he performed at Medellicotts with his father. He later played with Tude Tanguay and the Mountaineers.

He was a 1938 graduate of
New Milford High School . He worked as a farmer for more than a decade, then as an auto mechanic at Park Cadillac Oldsmobile for 41 years.

Mr. Caldwell is survived by two daughters, Diane of New Milford and
Janet Cover of Canton; two sons, Lewis of New Market, Va., and Charles of New Fairfield; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.
