Arlene M. Malichio, 74, of Danbury, died March 4 at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born March 18, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Henry E. and Veronica M. (Schilley) Byrnes.

Mrs. Malichio was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader, collected teapots and loved jigsaw puzzles.

Mrs. Malichio is survived by her children, Paula St. Amand, and her husband, Ron, of Danbury; Laura Campanelli, of Branford; Ann Marie Corso, and her husband, Greg, of Danbury; Christine Kijek, and her husband, Ed, of Bethel; Fran Mendonca, of Danbury; Anthony Malichio, of Danbury; and Mary Ann Mitchell, and her husband, Bob, of New Milford; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Guerriero, of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Frank Malichio; two sisters, Margaret and Rita; and a brother, John.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, Route 39, New Fairfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Cornell Memorial Home in Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
