To the Editor:

The New Milford fire marshal's office, Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2, Northville Volunteer Fire Department and Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the community for its support of our sixth annual Fire Prevention Day, held Oct. 5 at the New Milford Home Depot.

Hundreds of people attended the event, and the rain held off. In fact, it turned out to be a gorgeous day.

The following businesses and organizations donated or lent products and/or were on hand to assist:

The Home Depot for hosting the event, donating labor and material for the burn buildings, food, and for holding the children's workshop, and LaJoie's Auto Wrecking for donating the vehicle used for the extrication scenario.

Thank you also to RT Layton LTD Co.; Big Y; Stop & Shop; Beehive Children's Center; the Pratt Nature Center; Kicks 105.5 radio for DJ'ing and promoting the event; the New Milford Police Department; and New Milford Community Ambulance for providing tours of the ambulance.

Also, thanks to New Milford CERT; the Connecticut State Police Fire Explosive Investigation Unit; and Detective Dragon and K9 Brocade.

Thanks also to the Connecticut DEEP Emergency Response Unit; response coordinators Kenneth LeClerc, David Poynton, and John Aceto; and the New Milford fire marshal's office for coordinating the day, and providing handouts and literature.

Thanks are also due to the schools and all of the businesses that allowed us to hang flyers promoting the event.

We also thank The Greater New Milford Spectrum and Litchfield County Times for promotion.

We appreciate the continued dedication, support and commitment of these businesses, organizations and volunteers to New Milford's safety.

Without everyone's help and collaboration, we would be unable to provide this educational event to the New Milford community. Thank you.
