Appreciates support for scholarship fund
To the Editor:
The Washington Scholarship Fund hosted its 50th anniversary concert July 25 at the Shepaug Valley School.
We wish to thank all who came and all who contributed to the success of this outdoor concert, featuring Jeremy Messersmith, named one of Time magazine's 14 artists to watch in 2014.
Our thanks to the Glass family and Glassnote Entertainment Group, Community Table, County Wine & Spirits, GW Tavern, Hickory Stick Bookshop, Hidden Valley Eatery, the Mayflower Grace, Painter Ridge Farm, the Pantry, Washington Food Market, Washington Liquor Store, Washington Pharmacy and White Horse Country Pub & Restaurant, April Crumrine, Sarah Young, the Osborne family, Donald O'Leary, facilities manager for Region 12, and to some of our scholarship recipients for greeting and serving our guests.
Over the past 50 years, the Washington Scholarship Fund has provided scholarships totaling more than $2.4 million to our local students, who must be residents of Washington, Washington Depot, Marble Dale, New Preston and Woodville -- the five villages of Washington -- for a minimum of two years.
Awards are based on financial need and are awarded annually to seniors and graduates for their college or technical education.
Together we are supporting our community and investing in our future.
