To the Editor:

The New Milford fire marshal's Office, Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2, Northville Volunteer Fire Department and Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the community for their support of our fifth annual Fire Prevention Day held Sept. 30 at the New Milford Home Depot.

Hundreds of people attended the event, and the rain held off. In fact, it turned out to be a gorgeous day.

The following businesses and organizations donated or lent products and/or were on hand to assist with Fire Prevention Day:

Home Depot for hosting the event, donating labor and material for the burn buildings, and for holding the kids' workshop;

R & F Towing for delivering and picking up the vehicle for the extrication scenario;

LaJoie's Auto Wrecking for donating the vehicle used for the extrication scenario;

Kicks 105.5 radio for deejaying and promoting the event;

Nationwide Insurance for providing safety literature;

New Milford Community Ambulance for providing tours of the ambulance;

Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2;

Northville Volunteer Fire Department;

Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department;

Taylor Alward and Devin Alward for helping with the Dalmatian and fire hydrant costumes, and with Addie, the Dalmatian;

The state police, Office of State fire marshal Detective Paul Makuc and K9 Baxter, and Detective Jason DeSousa for bringing the fire investigation van and accelerant detection K9;

The Connecticut Fire Academy for loaning the stove fire extinguishment training simulator;

and the New Milford fire marshal's office for coordinating the day, and providing handouts and literature.

Thanks are also due to the schools and all of the businesses that allowed us to hang flyers promoting the event.

We also thank the Greater New Milford Spectrum and the Pennysaver for promoting Fire Prevention Day.

We appreciate the continued dedication, support and commitment of these businesses, organizations and volunteers to New Milford's safety.

Without everyone's help and collaboration we would be unable to provide this educational event to the New Milford community.

Thank you.
